Day 15: gathering ideas

Its been an easy day for me. Most of these days have been easy anyway, although I’m trying to push myself where I can.

I started off the morning with some stretching, just getting my joints out of their locked positions. I proceeded to brainstorming about my music video but lacked inspiration, and came face to face with the fact of “how am I actually going to do this?”. I mucked around a lot and didn’t put too much pressure on the idea. I was even considering doing just audio in the end and worked on polishing some sound bits that could’ve been slightly better then started watching YouTube for inspiration.  I was watching a Walk Off the Earth video and saw that they used… puppets! That gave me an idea.

With puppets, I’m able to create bigger scenes in smaller spaces, have more control, can put in multiple characters quite simply and will create a visually pleasing effect. I was thinking of that finger puppet thing with Harry Potter as well, and I could make it to be something like that. I thought of this idea quite late in the evening, so figured that could be my objective for the next day.

I went to Taekwondo again today, and the training consisted mostly of sparring. People I was fighting were mostly passive when fighting me which meant I tried to get more out of it by being a bit more aggressive. There’s just this one black belt kid named Bright who gives me a bit of a harder time as it’s really hard to land kicks on him and I’m not really sure how to counter his aggressive combos either. I got kicked in the face again today. Not as bad as last time, but I can still feel it right now. Joining a group gets me motivated to show up to class and train, although what I really need is a sparring partner. Someone I can train with outside of class. It’s also not just Taekwondo in isolation that I’m interested in either, but a range of sports, to keep variety in the game, and to learn different things. I’m actually looking forward to going back to Holland as I could potentially join the University of Amsterdam’s gym. They have a range of different clubs so maybe I’ll get into rock climbing or something. That’d be cool anyway. We’ll see where this all goes.

I also need to get to Bangkok soon to buy some Christmas presents. I fly back to Holland next Thursday morning: boxing day. I’m wondering where I should celebrate Christmas as well because my parents don’t have a plan. Maybe we could go scuba diving on Christmas eve or something. I think I’ll buy them both some books for Christmas. Or maybe something to do with gardening. We’ll see.

I’ll report back tomorrow about progress. Peace!

    1. Yeah, I feel pretty lucky about the amount of choice I have. Its not exactly my favorite thing either getting kicked in the face, but its a valuable lesson on how to avoid it for next time 😉
